THE ASHTON DOOLEY BAND

The Ashton Dooley Band is a distinctive blend of Americana, southern rock, country rock, and alternative country. The Ashton Dooley Band was formed in 2026 out of the ashes of the Dooley & Baldwin Band, following the retirement of frontman Norman Baldwin on New Year's Day 2026. The transition marked a new chapter for the group while carrying forward the musical spirit and live-performance energy established during the Dooley & Baldwin years.

The current Ashton Dooley Band lineup brings together an eclectic mix of musical backgrounds and talents. Frontman Ashton Dooley holds a Ph.D. and serves as the band's lead vocalist and guitarist. His distinctive approach to both electric guitar and banjitar contributes significantly to the band's signature sound. Dylan Brooks of Carnesville, Georgia, anchors the low end as the band's five-string bassist and also serves as its soundman, helping shape the band's live sonic experience. Kilik Smith brings an expansive keyboard presence to the group with his double-stack keyboard setup, while Phil Marston, a graduate of the prestigious Berklee College of Music, remains behind the drum kit.

Since their emergence on the Northeast Georgia music scene, the Ashton Dooley Band has performed at an extensive list of venues and events throughout Georgia, including Athentic Brewing Company, Amici's (Madison), Boutier Winery & Inn (Ila), Southern Fox Winery (Lincolnton), Boathouse Grill (Hartwell), Rolling Chef's (Hartwell), J.R. Cash's Bar & Grill (Starr, SC), The Shady (Iva, SC), Mellow Mushroom (Roswell), StillFire Brewing (Smyrna), Winding Waters Riverfront RV Park (Cartersville), Sunset Bar & Grille (Woodstock), Public House of Dahlonega, The Underground (Dahlonega), Turtle Cove Country Club (Monticello), Shawn O'Brian's Roadhouse (Jackson), Southern Roots Tavern (McDonough), Pirates Cove (Zebulon), Parish on Cherry (Macon), The Society Garden (Macon), Mellow Mushroom (Macon), Wild Wing Cafe (Warner Robins), Kerrigan's Country (Lyons), The District Square Food Hall (Springfield), The Grove (Savannah), Jefferson Porchfest (2025 & 2026), Statham Porchfest (2024 & 2026), and Historic Athens Porchfest (2020, 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024 & 2026).

Musically, the Ashton Dooley Band blends southern rock, country rock, Americana, and alternative country, drawing inspiration from legendary artists such as Willie Nelson, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Lynyrd Skynyrd, John Mellencamp, Hank Williams Sr., Hank Williams Jr., and Johnny Cash. Their repertoire moves comfortably from classic country and roots music to rock & roll and modern Americana, creating a versatile sound that is both familiar and distinctly their own. The band's performances reflect these diverse influences while leaving plenty of room for the individual personalities and musicianship of its members.

The band's momentum continued into 2026, when the Ashton Dooley Band reached the semi-finals, placing among the Top 12, in the Traditional Category of the Georgia Country Awards. The achievement marked an important milestone for the group and further established the band as a notable emerging act within Georgia's country and roots music community. In late March 2026, the band was also nominated by the International Singer-Songwriters Association (ISSA) Awards in multiple categories, including USA Entertainer of the Year, Vocalist of the Year, Rising Star, Band of the Year, Duo of the Year, Musician of the Year, and Emerging Artist.
